Juan Carlos Bronstein, Oil on canvas, 150cm x 150cm

Art Gallery Twenty Four is pleased to present Left Behind, Juan Carlos Bronstein latest works. The exhibition, composed of two large size and seven small paintings, was created at the gallery premises developing an organic relationship of content and pictorial language between them. Replacing the intimacy of the studio for the public space of the show, has allowed the artist to blend his expressive creativity, his own memories or biographical associations, together with a more distant critical attitude as curator of the exhibition he was simultaneously preparing. This dynamic resulted in a variety of the means of expression that come out together in order to reinforce meaning, permitting as well, to balance between emotional responds.

Left behind dwells on broken relationships, solitude and self-sufficiency, topics the artist touches by terms of images of children on their own: a recurrent of his earlier paintings figurative repertoire.

Left behind keeps Bronstein's essential dialog with the plastic heritage of Colombian masters and Mexican muralists, a source of inspiration for his monumental compositions heretofore. But now adopts, especially in the larger paintings, a new freer gestural approach, bringing figuration toward a level of abstraction and his high human and pictorial sensibility to a unique interpretation of the contemporary.
